How much does an iPad cost to build?

In what sounds like one of the coolest jobs ever, the team at iSuppli rips apart gadgets. Don’t think the techies do so just for fun or to see if the fancy device blends (ahem, Blendtec)—no, the iSuppli guys dissect gadgets to determine the price of components.
This time around, they’ve tackled the iPad and determined that the parts of Apple’s $499 base model tablet are worth about $260. Before you run off to write Steve Jobs an angry letter though, note that the number doesn’t include distribution, advertising, packaging or software costs.
Full breakdown of numbers at The New York Times.
