How to get Facebook’s iPad app NOW

A few hours ago, TechCrunch‘s MG Siegler revealed Facebook’s iPad app that was hidden within the iPhone app. This is big news, especially after Mark Zuckerberg once remarked the iPad is not a mobile device and the only way to ‘officially’ access Facebook on the iPad was via Safari browser. Now it seems that Zuckerberg has had a change of heart and Facebook is about to launch an iPad-specific app. But how does one get the app before Facebook releases it on the App Store? Hit the jump to find out…
Before we proceed, here are some disclaimers. One, the steps mentioned below can brick your iPad. Do it at your own risk. Second, we have not tried it out ourselves but have been told by multiple people who are using it on their iPad. With that out of the way, here’s how to do it.
You will need to Jailbreak your iPad and install OpenSSH from Cydia store. Now find the folder for the Facebook app (iPhone version) and find a file called info.plist. Now use a ‘plist’ file editor to open the file and find the string called UIDeviceFamily. Change the integer from ’1′ to ’2′. Save the file and replace the original file in the applications folder. And that’s it! Say hello to Facebook for iPad.
