Dive another day: James Bond-style submarine boat goes on sale - but you'd better dig deep if you want one

It looks like something straight out of a James Bond movie.
But this submarine-style vessel is not simply reserved for international spies or action heroes.
The Scubacraft - a boat that can dive underneath the water - is open for orders and can be driven off and under by regular customers from next year - provided they've got a spare £100,000.

The distinctive yellow boat is capable of speeds of up to 50 miles per hour on water.
But with the flick of a switch it can transform into a submersible that can dive to depths of up to 30m  (100ft) thanks to a specially designed trimaran hull.

Weighing in at less than 400kg, its powerful 160hp engine ensures a zippy ride on the waves.
It is powered by a jet propulsion system, and features surface and underwater communications as well as an on-board air supply.
The Scubacraft works by inflating or deflating buoyancy tubes integrated in its hull, which allow it to submerge and surface at will.

Its Wales-based makers, Creative Worldwide, call it a 'free-flooding, self-contained hydrodynamic flying machine'.
James Bond's Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me
James Bond, played by Roger Moore, drove a submersible Lotus Esprit in the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me
The craft, reminiscent of the submersible Lotus in The Spy Who Loved Me, recently went through underwater testing at Pinewood Studios, where many James Bond movies were made.
But whether 007 eventually gets behind the wheel or not, the Scubacraft has fulfilled its mission as the world's most versatile sports boat.
The firm expects the first customers to take delivery at the end of 2010.
